Hello everyone,

During our morning meeting today the boys and I had a discussion about how cold it was outside, and which animals would actually enjoy the weather we are having. Some of the answers the boys gave were: penguins, polar bears, walrus', and whales. In keeping with our theme this week of decorating our new room we decided we would do some penguin art. We all followed along to an Art Hub for Kids drawing video on YouTube.

To end each day the boys and I have a discussion about the day's activities. We talk about what we did, and how we grew. The boys are keen on sharing what they did and how they got better at something. This was what the boys shared today:

How did we grow today?
·    I made a star with melty beads during centers.
·    I got better making hockey sticks with melty beads.
·    In gym, we did hands and leg tag.
·    During centers, I built a zoo with a cage for baby dinosaurs that lost their moms.
·    In gym, we did more exercises.

·    During art, we drew penguins.

Tomorrow we will be going to the library, if you could please return any library books you may have at home that would be great.

Happy Wednesday! Today is Pink Shirt Day. We watched a short YouTube video that showed the boys what pink shirt day is all about. We then had a discussion about ways we show kindness to others and some things we can do if we see someone being mistreated. Some of the things the boys mentioned were: Helping someone when they get hurt Ask someone to play with you on the playground If you see someone being unkind to another person stand up for that person. Happy Wednesday! Today during work time the boys practiced identifying and extending different types of patterns. Ask your son if he can tell you what one type of pattern is; size, shape and colour are the ones we are working on right now. We have a classroom point system similar to the one that was used in Mrs. Palmer's class, and the boys have earned their prize. They all voted and decided they wanted to earn popcorn and a movie. If you do not want your son having popcorn, could you kindly send a movie snack for them to enjoy during our movie. Happy Wednesday! We had a very busy morning today. During our work period we did science. We are learning about plants and their needs. We read the book We Are The Gardeners which taught us about what plants need to grow. Each boy then drew a picture in their visual journal showing 3 of the needs of plants: water, soil and sun. Next, each boy had the opportunity to plant a flower. We will be observing and documenting the growth of our plants in our plant journal. Ask your son if he remembers what kind flower we planted. The boys also earned enough class points to watch a movie. The boys chose to watch a Wild Kratts show.
