Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had a relaxing weekend. This weeks letter is F. We talked about all of the words we knew that begin with the letter F, and the boys came up with quite a list of words. We also did an activity in our alphabet books. The boys used paint and their fingers to make fingerprints on their F page.

Please feel free to send any items that begin with F to school with your son so he can share during morning meeting.

We ran out of time today and didn't get a chance to write down our ideas for the blog, but please ask your son what he did in school today.

Happy Wednesday! Today is Pink Shirt Day. We watched a short YouTube video that showed the boys what pink shirt day is all about. We then had a discussion about ways we show kindness to others and some things we can do if we see someone being mistreated. Some of the things the boys mentioned were: Helping someone when they get hurt Ask someone to play with you on the playground If you see someone being unkind to another person stand up for that person. Tell the person to stop being unkind, and ask the other person if they're okay Ask for help from an adult: parents, teachers, principal, grandparents, etc. Ask them to come over for a playdate Smiling at someone Sharing toys, materials or snacks Giving someone a compliment After our discussion the boys chose their favourite way they show kindness and they drew that on a pink t-shirt. Happy Wednesday! Today during work time the boys practiced identifying and extending different types of patterns. Ask your son if he can tell you what one type of pattern is; size, shape and colour are the ones we are working on right now. We have a classroom point system similar to the one that was used in Mrs. Palmer's class, and the boys have earned their prize. They all voted and decided they wanted to earn popcorn and a movie. If you do not want your son having popcorn, could you kindly send a movie snack for them to enjoy during our movie. Happy Wednesday! We had a very busy morning today. During our work period we did science. We are learning about plants and their needs. We read the book We Are The Gardeners which taught us about what plants need to grow. Each boy then drew a picture in their visual journal showing 3 of the needs of plants: water, soil and sun. Next, each boy had the opportunity to plant a flower. We will be observing and documenting the growth of our plants in our plant journal. Ask your son if he remembers what kind flower we planted. The boys also earned enough class points to watch a movie. The boys chose to watch a Wild Kratts show.
